Morgan

Morgan came over yesterday for head shots. She was kind enough to also sit for a few images I wanted to do.

Location Scouting

There seems to be a great background around every corner. With a little post processing they really become fun.

Right after I saw this, the radio sounded a fire, and I was left alone without any models…

Flash Bus Tour – Durham

It felt like we were going to a rock concert of a favorite musician. The date would not come soon enough and passed way to fast. It wasn’t music, it was photography. David Hobby and Joe McNally are traveling on a bus for six weeks going to 29 different cities across the country.
David Hobby started a blog in 2006 called the Stobist. Before that he was a newspaper photojournalist for twenty years. The Stobist is the net’s most popular lighting site receiving about 100,000 hits a day. Hobby stresses the use of speedlights, those little flash units that are normally placed on top of the camera. David has taught millions how to use those flashes to get great photos.
Joe McNally was a photojournalist for over 30 years. He shot for National Geographic, Sports Illustrated, and was a staff photographer for Life magazine. Being on location most of the time, he also likes speedlights as well as strobes.
I was there for Hobby. He is an amazing teacher and presenter. It was a great shot of inspiration after a long dry spell of feeling isolated. And David is just a plain nice guy. It was a GREAT day!

The windows were covered with black out paper to facilitate watching the slide shows. Hence the slow shutter speed shaky photo.
